Ground Coffee vs Whole Bean

Ground Coffee vs Whole Bean

As I move along in my kitchen hack blog, I realize many things are controversial and spark fierce debate.

Why is that?

Are we die hard creatures of habit?

Is it our love of family and tradition?

I don’t know that I have the answer. However, I do know that the ground coffee vs whole bean debate, is alive and well and has been for what seems like forever. Typically, if you have a hard stance on this one, you won’t be swayed otherwise.

There is no argument when you grind whole beans. The aroma immediately wafts through the room and is like no other. The smell of fresh ground whole bean coffee is far stronger than what you will find when opening a container of ground coffee.

The rub is that grinding coffee takes time and creates a bit to a lot, of extra work. However, those that LOVE their fresh-ground brew will tell you it is absolutely worth every extra minute.

As I land back on earth to the hectic schedules my husband and I face, we do opt for ground coffee often. Hack #1 is buying previously ground coffee from the store. We have a couple others as well!

My husband, Randy and I REALLY like coffee. Furthermore, our kitchen has two coffee makers and we use them both regularly. The use of each depends on our schedules for the day and that varies daily. The pot is on when we will be working from home. When we are on the go, the K-cups jump into action.

Hack #2 for us is to buy whole bean coffee and grind it in batches at home. My husband grinds smaller batches and stores them in air-tight containers. This gives us that wonderful aroma in the home. It might be the night before we actually drink coffee again, but we’ll take it!

Hack #3 K-cups. Ground coffee and K-cups are kitchen hacks that can save you time and frankly, your sanity. I know these coffee hacks are not groundbreaking. However, there is absolutely no reason why you can’t enjoy them all, like we do.

There are a lot more aspects to the ground vs whole debate. But I will save those for another post.
